Este fue el segundo libro de mi padre que precedió a "Los Detectives o Investigadores Privados", publicado en 1979, del que ya hablé en otro post.
Muchas son las historias que se han escrito en la literatura mundial sobre los detectives y sus apasionantes vidas a las que la filmografía acabó de encumbrar. Pero, la realidad de los profesionales de la investigación es completamente diferente, más anodina y mezclada con la vida familiar, los problemas del día a día y muchos sinsabores que se pierden en la soledad de los despachos o en cualquier bar.
"Las Otras Huellas, Memorias de un Detective Privado" son esas huellas que los detectives llevan escritas en su piel, en los años duros de los comienzos, en las noches sin dormir, en la desesperación por encontrar la solución de los casos difíciles y en la compasión despertada por algunos de los protagonistas que pasaron por sus vidas.
De los 84.342 casos en los que intervino mi padre, aparecen en este libro algunos de los más significativos, ya sea por la relevancia de los protagonistas o por lo que significaron para él en aquel momento. Lo que sí es cierto es que no fueron los más importantes en los que trabajó y que el tiempo se ha encargado de borrar de nuestras memorias.

Recomiendo su lectura a todos aquellos nostálgicos de otras épocas, a los que conocieron a mi padre en vida, y a los amantes de las historias humanas que comparten su pasión por la profesión y que saben que detrás de los personajes de los libros y de las películas, solamente hay buenos autores y guiones. Pero en esa soledad no compartida de un buen profesional, hay otras huellas que nadie conocerá jamás y que desaparecerán en el silencio cuando nos hayamos ido.

This was the second book by my father that preceded "The Private Detectives or Investigators", published in 1979, which I already talked about in another post.
Many are the stories that have been written in world literature about detectives and their exciting lives that the filmography has just exalted. But the reality of research professionals is completely different, more anodyne and mixed with family life, day-to-day problems and many troubles that are lost in the solitude of offices or in any bar.
"The Other Footprints, Memoirs of a Private Detective" are those traces that detectives have written on their skin, in the hard years of the beginning, in sleepless nights, in desperation to find the solution to difficult cases and in the compassion awakened by some of the protagonists who passed through their lives.
Of the 84,342 cases in which my father intervened, some of the most significant appear in this book, either because of the relevance of the protagonists or because of what they meant to him at that time. What is certain is that they were not the most important in which he intervened and that time has been in charge of erasing from our memories.

I recommend reading it to all those nostalgic for other times, to those who knew my father in life, and to those who love human stories who share their passion for the profession and who know that behind the characters in books and movies , there are only good authors and scripts. But in that unshared loneliness of a good professional, there are other traces that no one will ever know and that will disappear in silence when we are gone.
